Mental and physical health are linked—and it’s important to understand how some physical symptoms can be signs that brain health is suffering.
It’s natural to assume that when there’s an issue with brain health, it will show itself through emotions or feelings. But sometimes our brains can signal there’s a problem through physical symptoms. Here are some common symptoms that can be associated with mental illness.
- Multiple physical ailments without obvious causes (such as headaches, stomach aches, vague and ongoing “aches and pains”)
- Changes in sleeping habits or feeling tired and low energy
- Changes in eating habits such as increased hunger or lack of appetite
- Changes in sex drive
